About This Spot

El Chilito is the kind of place where you immediately settle into a warm, welcoming rhythm—an intimate spot tucked away in Canby that invites a relaxed, easygoing vibe. The modest dining bar beckons visitors to pause, enjoy, and watch the kitchen craft each meal with care. Here, the pace feels unhurried, the chatter soft and familiar, as if you’re stepping into a friend’s home for a shared meal rather than a restaurant.

Behind the counter, owners Francisco and Maria create more than just food—they cultivate a sense of family and community that resonates through each plate served. You don’t come to El Chilito for fancy frills or flashy surroundings; instead, it’s the aroma of fresh spices, the vivid layers of flavors, and the genuine kindness of the staff that make your visit memorable. Whether it’s the rich, comforting warmth of a tamale or the satisfying zest of carne asada tacos, each bite reflects a thoughtful blend of tradition and heart.

The atmosphere here leans into simplicity and authenticity—a cozy nook where meals feel generous and honest. The salsa bar invites you to experiment with your spice levels, while dishes like the Super Burrito or the Camarones Rancheros unfold layers of comfort that linger long after the food is gone. Though the space is small and very much well-loved, the glowing energy and familiarity knit the place together, making it easy to overlook any imperfections in favor of the full, flavorful experience.

El Chilito’s charm lies in its authentic connection—one that’s nurtured through years of smiles, shared stories, and freshly made meals that leave guests feeling both satisfied and cared for. It’s a local gem where the flavors tell a story, and every visit feels like coming home to something real and truly good.

What a cute place! I love their small dining bar. And the staff are so friendly!

The food is delicious here at el chilito I love the staff. It's a hidden gem with authentic food and the best service ever! I really love supporting local businesses. The owner's Francisco and Maria are two of the kindest nicest people you could ever meet. They are like family. The first time you meet them. Their daughters are very personable, polite and knowledgeable about the food.As well as the drinks. They're on the main road and easy to find. The Salsa's are homemade and Scrumptious with a wide variety of dishes are like Mama's home cooking. Burritos, Taco's, Enchiladas or Taquitos, all made fresh to order are so good. I chalenge you to take on their "Super Burrito" not only huge but made however you like it. I recommend this restaurant highly. And if you haven't been here, you are missing out.

El Chilito has some really bomb fresh Mexican food. They make large quantities for great prices and go the extra mile in customer service. They also have wiggle room with how the meals are made because they prepare it freshly. Great experience and worth a visit.

I have been coming here for over 20 years and have not been disappointed. My company has ordered lunch burritos for 100+ and they're so great to work with. I've tried most of the menu, its just delicious stuff. I've never eaten there's the dining space is very small and worn out. A few times it's been less than clean. But the food is more than worth a sketchy table.

My absolute favorite place to get...well anything on the menu. Everything is fresh, delicious, hot, and perfectly made. I will always recommend El Chilito to everyone and always bring everyone I know when they want mexican food!

Food was excellent, great service—very attentive cashier, offered menu selections to please, and although it was a long line, they managed it consistently. Quality seems consistent. Locals like it. We will definitely be back!!

Got two pastor and 2 Asada Tacos. Goid size street taco. Good flavor. I prefer the asada over the pastor. Both were good though. I would definitely get this again.

Great food, I love their breakfast burrito. However, the hours posted said 8 am open, there’s no signs of life in there or vehicles parked outside. They should update their hours and also post them on the building. I’d love to know what time they actually open so I can snag breakfast when passing through.
